Today we set-up our binders. Here is a reminder of materials you need for class:
Materials:
NOTE: If you need help getting a binder and dividers please tell Mrs. Spencer and she will help you get one. =)
After we set up our binders we took a few notes over lab safety information. We also talked about where to find safety information for any chemicals we may come across in lab. The first place to look is on the chemical label on the bottle. The label on the bottle will tell you the chemical's name, weight, and any hazards that you may need to know when handling the chemical.
All chemicals that are bought come with a Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS sheet. This is a longer report on the chemical. MSDS Sheets will tell you first aid information incase you get the compound on your skin, in your eyes, if you swallow it or breathe it in. It also tells you any quick information about how dangerous the compound is and if there are any special ways of handling or storing the chemical.
Please ask Mrs. Spencer of a copy of all the papers collected in class she has a set just for you. =) There are 4 pieces of information that you need to write down in your notes. Please ask a friend for the notes. If you can't get any notes from someone in class I will help you get your notes. We worked on a worksheet using our notes as a guide. The bottom of the worksheet requires you to read 3 MSDS sheets, ask for copies of these to finish your assignment.
Materials:
- 1/2-1" binder
- 5 three hole-punched dividers
- Pen or Pencil
- a calculator. Nothing fancier than a scientific calculator.
NOTE: If you need help getting a binder and dividers please tell Mrs. Spencer and she will help you get one. =)
